Best Freshping Alternative in 2026 — For Teams Who Need More Than Ping Checks
Freshworks shut down Freshping on March 6, 2026. All monitors, status pages, and historical data were permanently deleted. If you're reading this and haven't migrated yet, you have a simple choice: find the closest free replacement, or treat this as the push to finally set up monitoring the way it should have been from the start.
This guide is for the second group.
⚠️ Freshping shut down permanently on March 6, 2026. All monitors, status pages, and historical data are gone. Freshping dashboard → Settings → Export Data. Historical uptime data is not included in the export — take screenshots of any SLA reports you need.
What Freshping Was Good At (And Where It Fell Short)
Freshping was excellent for one thing: getting a simple HTTP monitor running in under a minute, for free. For early-stage teams, that was enough.
But it had hard limits that most teams quietly worked around:
- No India probe. Freshping's nearest probe was Singapore. If your users are in Bengaluru or Mumbai, you were monitoring latency from the wrong continent.
- HTTP ping only. No real browser testing. No login flow validation. No checkout verification. Just "did the server respond?"
- No WhatsApp alerts. In India, your incident response channel is WhatsApp — not email, not Slack.
- USD pricing. GST complications, forex markups, and no UPI support.
If any of those limitations affected you, the shutdown is an opportunity.

Honest notes on competitors
UptimeRobot is the obvious free-tier replacement for Freshping — 50 monitors, simple setup, been around 12 years. If all you need is basic HTTP monitoring from US/EU regions, it works. No India probe, no synthetic flows, USD only.
Better Stack is excellent for log aggregation paired with monitoring. Their uptime product is solid. No India infrastructure, starts at $25/mo.
Checkly is the gold standard for synthetic monitoring — if your team already works in JavaScript and you need API checks and browser flows at scale. Steep learning curve, $40/mo minimum, no India probes.
PingSLA is built specifically for teams where India is a first-class concern — not an afterthought. If your users are in India, your infrastructure is on AWS Mumbai or GCP Mumbai, or your team communicates on WhatsApp, PingSLA is the only tool on this list built with that reality in mind.
Why the India Probe Actually Matters
This is worth spending a minute on because most teams don't think about it until something breaks.
When your monitoring probe is in Virginia or Amsterdam, it measures round-trip latency from there to your server. A response time of 180ms looks healthy. But if your server is hosted in Mumbai and your users are in Bengaluru, the actual user experience might be 40ms — or 800ms during a CDN misconfiguration — and your US-based probe would never catch it.
PingSLA's Bangalore probe runs checks from probe-blr.pingsla.com — the only
monitoring probe in South Asia available on paid plans with a 15-day trial on Starter/Growth. Pingdom
has a Mumbai probe but starts at $10/mo with no free tier. Every other tool on
this list has no India coverage at all.
For Indian SaaS companies, fintech APIs, and e-commerce platforms, this is not a nice-to-have. It is the difference between knowing your service is down in India and finding out from a customer complaint.
Synthetic Flows — What Freshping Never Had
Freshping was an HTTP ping tool. It checked whether a URL returned a 200 status code. That is useful but incomplete.
PingSLA's synthetic flows run real browser sessions using Playwright. A flow can:
- Navigate to your login page and submit credentials
- Verify that the dashboard loads correctly after authentication
- Walk through a checkout sequence and confirm the payment form renders
- Check that a critical API endpoint returns the correct JSON structure
- Take a screenshot at each step for visual verification
These are the checks that actually catch production incidents before users do. A server can return 200 on the homepage while the authentication system is completely broken. HTTP monitoring misses that. Synthetic flows catch it.
Flows are available on the Starter plan ($39/mo) and above.
WhatsApp Alerts
No other monitoring tool has native WhatsApp alerts. Not UptimeRobot, not Better Stack, not Checkly, not Pingdom.
In India, this is the most practical alert channel for on-call engineers. WhatsApp notifications arrive on the lock screen, are seen immediately, and don't require your team to have a Slack workspace or PagerDuty account.
PingSLA sends downtime and recovery alerts directly via WhatsApp to any Indian mobile number. No Zapier, no third-party bridge, no extra cost.
Available on Growth plan ($99/mo) and above.
INR Billing with UPI and Razorpay
Every competitor on this list bills in USD. That means:
- International transaction fees on your card (1.5–3.5%)
- Forex conversion at unfavorable rates
- GST complications on foreign invoices
- No UPI option
PingSLA bills in INR, accepts UPI, net banking, and all major Indian cards through Razorpay. You get a proper GST invoice.
At $39/mo, that's approximately ~₹3,300/month — and you pay exactly that, in rupees, with a proper Indian invoice.
How to Migrate from Freshping
Migration is straightforward. Budget 20 minutes.
Step 1 — Export from Freshping Log in → Settings → Export Data → download CSV. This gives you monitor URLs, check intervals, and contact emails. Historical uptime data is not exported — take screenshots if you need it.
Step 2 — Sign up for PingSLA Create your account at pingsla.com. Starter and Growth include a 15-day trial with no credit card required.
Step 3 — Add your monitors Add your monitors manually from the CSV. Each monitor takes under 60 seconds: URL, check interval, alert contacts, probe regions. For Indian sites, always select BLR as one of your regions.
Step 4 — Set up your status page
PingSLA status pages are available on all paid plans.
Use your custom domain (e.g., status.yourcompany.com) with automatic SSL.
Step 5 — Configure alert channels
- Starter: Email, Slack, Discord, Webhooks
- Growth+: WhatsApp, PagerDuty, webhooks
Step 6 — Run both in parallel for 48 hours Keep Freshping running alongside PingSLA until March 6. Verify that response times and incident triggers match.
Step 7 — Done Freshping shuts down March 6. You're already covered.
Choosing the Right Plan
| If you are... | Plan |
|---|---|
| Solo developer, side project, early-stage | Starter — 50 monitors, email/Slack/Discord/webhooks, BLR probe |
| Growing SaaS, need synthetic flows + team access | Starter $39/mo — 50 monitors, 10 active flows, 4 regions |
| Production app, India users, need WhatsApp alerts | Growth $99/mo — 150 monitors, 25 active flows, 6 regions |
| Agency or enterprise, need white-label + audit logs | Agency $499/mo — 5,000 monitors, 500 active flows, high-volume client coverage |
The Honest Summary
If you were on Freshping's free tier and just need the closest replacement, UptimeRobot is fine for basic needs — it's free and has 50 monitor slots.
If you run a product where India matters — your users are Indian, your infrastructure is in Mumbai or Bengaluru, your team is on WhatsApp — there is no tool on the market that covers those requirements the way PingSLA does.
The Freshping shutdown is inconvenient. But it is also a good moment to ask whether your monitoring setup was actually good enough, or just free.
